JAZZTIME LABRADORS consists of Larry and Anna Calvert and a group of black labs. We are located in the beautiful Mission Valley of western Montana. Our main focus is training for and running retriever field trials.

Larry has trained hunting dogs all his life and retrievers for 40 years, but he started training for field trials in Alaska in 1981.
Since that time he has titled 6 dogs and finished 18  Nationals, with 5 different dogs.

FC-AFC-CFC-CAFC MHR Jazztime was the first dog that he titled.
Although we lost Jazztime when he was just six years old, he had accumulated 176-1/2 points in the US and Canada. He won 3 Double Headers and was a National Finalist 6 times.
He was also a finalist in the 1990 NAHRA invitational and a member of the All America team that year.  Jazztime was the foundation of our line of retrievers.

AFC-CFC-CAFC Chugach Hills Jazz's Rascal came from Jazztime's very first litter.
He was a finalist in the 1995 Canadian National. He is now deceased and resting next to Jazztime.

FC-AFC-CFC-CAFC Jazztime's Frequent Flyer ("Trip") was a National finalist 7 times and has won 2 Double Headers.  He finished his first National at 2-1/2.  He recently passed away and rests next to Jazztime and Rascal.

AFC-CFC-CAFC- GMPR-MHR Jazztime Last Chance v Pekisko (“Chance”) is now running All-Age stakes; he got off to a good start by getting both his Canadian titles at 28 months of age.  He has two Amateur wins, and several other Open and Amateur places, as well as numerous JAMs in the Open and Amateur.

We now have 3 young males:  Jazztime Montana Cowboy (“Roper”) and CTR Jazztime Northern Pintail (“Sprig”) are running in the Derby.  Our newest pup Jazztime Bluegoose Skatch is just 3 ½ months old.

Although Larry enjoys training for and running the All-age stakes in field trials, he especially likes working with young dogs. We always seem to have one or two that he is bringing along.
Some of those are sold as field trial dogs and some as well trained gun dogs.

Larry is an avid bird hunter, both waterfowl and upland birds, so our dogs are hunted after the field trial season is over and throughout the fall and winter.

Anna started in field trials in 1987 and finished 2 Nationals with her first dog GMHR Chugach Hills Itsy Bitsy.  Bitsy finished 2 NAHRA Invitationals and became a member of the 1989 and 1990 All America Team.

FC-AFC-CFC-CAFC-MHR-MPR Jazztime Albertawind v Pekisko is now retired from field trials.  Windy has qualified for 10 Nationals and was a finalist at the 2002 Canadian National Amateur.

We did run the NAHRA hunt tests while we were in Alaska, but since moving to Montana we have concentrated on running field trials.  We enjoyed the hunt tests and we both finished the NAHRA Invitational, but find we do not have the time or money to do both hunt tests and field trials.

However, in the spring and summer of 2005 we ran 3 NAHRA weekends and had a lot of fun.  Since then we have run some American Pointing Lab Association events and some more NAHRA tests. Chance earned his Master Hunting Retriever Title and then his Grand Master Pointing Retriever Title.
