BREEDING
INFORMATION AND STUD FEES
In order to breed to any
of our studs, we require that the bitch have her hips certified by OFA
and her eyes certified by CERF
and recommend having the elbows
certified by OFA. For a natural
breeding, we also require a recent brucellosis test with a negative result.
We recommend getting the brucellosis test as soon as she comes in season as
it can often take 4 or 5 days to get the results. We like to have the female
by day 8 so that she has time to settle in before we do the breeding. We live
about 50 miles from the Missoula
airport and several airlines fly in there, so shipping to us is easy.
We do have frozen
semen stored in Grass Valley,
California and have had
excellent luck when breeders have used frozen semen by surgical implant. In
order to get the semen shipped in time, please notify us as soon as she comes
in so that we can make arrangements with the semen bank.
Our stud fees are as follow: $1000 for Trip, Chance, Hawk or Chad.
(Rascal is now deceased and we have just a few vials of frozen semen left.
The stud fee for those vials is $1500 each.) In each case, we require a
non-refundable deposit of $100 to be paid at the time of breeding. In the
event there are no puppies, the deposit will be applied to a repeat breeding.
If there are less than 3 puppies, the stud fee is $350 per puppy. The balance
of the stud fee is to be paid when the puppies are 4 weeks old and prior to
registering the litter with AKC or CKC.
Other fees include airport pickup and delivery of $50 each, $10 per
day boarding, and $25 per progesterone test.
